150th Open Championship - Tournament Preview

This years Open Championship returns to what many refer to as the 'Home of Golf'. The Old Course at St Andrews has not had much major work done to it since it last held the Open Championship back in 2015, won in a playoff by Zach Johnson. With light to moderate winds from the west and minimal rain forecast for the 4 days of the tournament we could some pretty low scores posted!

Our Thoughts
Jon Rahm: Spaniard not enjoying his best year but does lead the Tour in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee, Total Driving and Ball Striking while he ranks 3rd in GIR and 10th in Par 4 Scoring. Played last week and has an Open Top 10 and a Masters Top 5 so ticks every box.

Will Zalatoris: Has an insane six Top 8 finishes in majors in just eight starts as a professional. Finished runner-up at the last two majors. Ranks 11th in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee and 9th in GIR. Will again be right in contention.

Tyrell Hatton: Putting stats put Hatton right in this with the fiery Englishman ranking 3rd in Three-Putt Avoidance and 7th in Putting Average. Has two Top 6 finishes at the Open and has played his best golf in the desert and on links.

Corey Conners: Remarkable ball striker whose Augusta form presents him here. Finished Top 8 last two Masters. Ranks Top 10 in Ball Striking, GIR, Strokes Gained: Off The Tee and Total Driving.

Jordan Smith: Underrated Englishman playing very good golf. Leads the DP World Tour in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee and GIR while he ranks 8th Scrambling. Has very good desert and links form.
