How Ping Adjustability Works

Adjustable Ping woods use a hosel adapter that changes loft, and on newer models can also set a flatter lie. Ping adapters are made for Ping heads only, and the adapter is held in place by a screw through the sole.

Movable rear weights

From the G410 onwards, many Ping drivers use a rear weight that screws into one of several positions, typically draw, neutral and fade. Moving it shifts the centre of gravity slightly towards the heel or toe to influence shot shape.

Iron tuning weights

Many Ping irons have a small port for a screw weight, used to set swingweight during custom builds or after reshafting.

What Is in the Range

Choosing the Right Ping Part

• Match model and club type: driver and fairway weights differ, and Max, LST and SFT versions can use different masses. Check the product title.
• Weight mass: Ping weights come in various grams. Heavier adds swingweight and stability, lighter suits a longer or heavier shaft build. About 2 grams equals roughly one swingweight point.
• Adapter tip size: Ping driver and fairway adapters are typically .335, while hybrid adapters usually take a .370 shaft tip.
• Screw condition: a worn or stripped head screw can stop the adapter locking. A spare screw is a cheap fix.

Are these genuine Ping weights and adapters?

No, they are aftermarket parts made to fit Ping clubs. They are built to match the original dimensions but are not made by Ping. Read the product title to confirm the parts suit your exact Ping model, such as G440, G430 or G425.

Do G430 weights fit a G440 driver?

Not necessarily. Ping can change weight size, mass and fitting between generations, even when heads look similar. Buy the weight listed for your model, or compare against the original weight if you still have it, to avoid a poor fit.

What do the draw, neutral and fade positions do?

They change where the rear weight sits. The draw position moves mass towards the heel to help the face close, the fade position moves it towards the toe, and neutral sits in the middle. The effect is a few metres of curve, not a cure for a big slice.

Can I put a non-Ping shaft in my Ping driver?

Yes, by gluing an aftermarket Ping adapter onto a shaft with the correct tip size, usually .335 for drivers. The shaft is then trimmed and gripped to length. The adapter adds length below the shaft, so allow for it when measuring.
