AT&T Byron Nelson - Tournament Preview

The PGA Tour stops at TPC Craig Ranch, Texas this week for AT&T Byron Nelson, 1 of only 2 PGA tournaments named after a professional golfer. TPC Craig Ranch is a par-71 Parklands layout featuring 3 par 5’s, 11 Par 4’s and 4 Par 3’s. This year the 12th hole has become a 450 meter par 4 this year (previously five), reducing the par to 71. With slower than average Bermuda greens, The 14th is a driveable par-four and wide fairways, it’s a bombers paradise but it’s around the greens where scores are to be had.

Our Thoughts
Tyrell Hatton: Elite putter. Also ranks 8th in Strokes Gained: Approach. Finished Top 6 in Phoenix this year and T17 in the 2021 St Jude. Has the class to roll the hotpot.

Taylor Montgomery: Leads the Tour in Putting Average. Ranks third in Strokes Gained: Putting and 6th in Birdie or Better. Loves Bermuda greens.

Tom Hoge: Outstanding iron player who leads the Tour in Strokes Gained: Approach while he ranks 2nd in Proximity and 8th in Birdie or Better. Ranks 11th in Putting Average. Tremendous bet.

Maverick McNealy: Leads the Tour in Strokes Gained: Putting and his best form is on Bermuda greens, which he gets here.

Aaron Wise: Has a very good record in Texas. Ranks 4th in Putting Average, 9th in Strokes Gained: Putting and 18th in Birdie or Better.
