The Course
Silverado Resort and Spa is a classic tree lined course with tight fairways and thickish rough. The greens are small and undulating surrounded with either heavy bunkering, tightly mown run off areas or water. The course has had 2 redesigns. Firstly by The course was overhauled by Robert Trent Jones Junior in the 1960s, and then Johnny Miller in 2010.

Players to Watch
Webb Simpson: Quality short-game exponent who ranks 5th in the most important stat of Scrambling. Ranks 3rd in Par 4 Scoring, 8th in Bogey Avoidance, 8th in Birdie or Better and 17th in Proximity 75-100 Yards. Finished Top 4 last two Sony Opens. Finished T-17 here in 2017, his last start here.

Charles Howell III: Veteran who finished fourth here at his most recent start in 2019. Will be fresh off a break. Ranked 3rd last season in Scrambling while also 10th in Bogey Avoidance, 12th in Par 4 Scoring and 18th in Strokes Gained: Off The Tee.

Taylor Moore: Talented Korn Ferry Tour graduate who has found a very winnable tournament to kick off his first full season with a PGA Tour card. Ranks 5th in Ball Striking, 5th in Par 4 Scoring, 6th in Scrambling, 6th in Bogey Avoidance and 8th in Birdie or Better.

Brandt Snedeker: The best Poa putter on Tour, he will need to turnaround his recent form but he has certainly done that before. Plays his best golf on the West Coast. Two Top 20 finishes here in five starts. Finished 6th at the Valero Texas Open earlier in the year.

Ben Kohles: Another Korn Ferry Tour graduate whose statistical profile on the KFT fits beautifully here. Ranks 2nd in Par 4 Scoring, 3rd on Bogey Avoidance, 5th in Scrambling and 9th in Ball Striking.
